Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before confirming your booking.

Weekend & Public-Holiday Rates

Half-day studio hire is not available on weekends or public holidays. Any half-day booking made for these dates will automatically be adjusted to the applicable full-day rate. Sunday and public-holiday rates are shown on our Studio Hire page.

Booking Confirmation

Your booking is held for 48 hours from the time it is made. To secure it, full payment must be received within this period. Bookings not paid in full within 48 hours are automatically cancelled.

Bookings are confirmed by payment only. Verbal or written approval without payment does not constitute a confirmed booking under any circumstances.

Pencil Bookings

A pencil is a temporary hold for 3 days while you finalise production details. It does not confirm your booking and may be released at any time without notice.

A pencil does not block our public booking calendar; your selected date remains visible and available to other clients.

We do not operate a P1 or P2 system. Multiple clients may hold pencils for the same date, and the booking is secured solely by the first client to confirm with full payment.

A confirmed, paid booking by another client takes precedence over all pencils, which are then released automatically without notice. Shamase Studios is not liable for any loss, inconvenience or damages arising from an unconfirmed pencil booking.

Studio Information

Shamase Studios is located within a shared commercial office park.

The studio is not soundproof. Due to the building structure, ambient noise and natural echo may occur from time to time.

If your production requires high-quality audio, we strongly recommend checking the weather forecast before your shoot. A complimentary studio recce is compulsory for productions recording dialogue or sound.

Please do not ask neighbouring businesses to reduce their noise; they are operating their businesses too.

Dry Studio Hire

Studio hire is offered as a dry hire unless otherwise agreed. Photo lighting, video lighting, colour paper backdrops, and grip equipment are not included in the hire fee. These are available to hire at an additional cost. We recommend viewing the studio before booking to ensure it meets your production requirements.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Cancellation. Bookings cancelled with less than 48 hours' written notice are non-refundable. With at least 48 hours' written notice, the full booking value is issued as studio credit (a coupon code), valid 3 months from the original booking date. Studio credit is non-transferable, any price increases at rebooking are payable, and no cash refunds are given.

Rescheduling. Requests must be submitted at least 48 hours before your booking. Each booking includes one complimentary reschedule; any additional changes incur a 50% rescheduling fee.

Within 24 hours. Bookings are final within 24 hours of the scheduled start time. No cancellations, credits or rescheduling are permitted, and the full booking fee is forfeited.

Late arrivals. Bookings begin and end at the times reserved. Late arrivals do not extend your booking, and missed bookings are non-refundable.

Backdrops

Studio hire includes use of the white cyclorama wall only. Colour paper backdrops must be selected using the “Add to your Appointment” option during booking and are charged per backdrop. If no colour backdrop is added, we assume you are supplying your own.

Up to 1 metre of backdrop may be used on the floor; additional used or damaged backdrop is charged at R700 per metre. Due to their delicate nature, only Shamase Studios staff may install or remove paper backdrops.

Setup & Breakdown

Your booking time includes setup, shooting, packing up and breakdown. Please ensure your team has completely vacated the studio by the end of your booking. Additional time is charged where applicable and is subject to studio availability.

Liability

While reasonable care has been taken to provide a safe environment, all use of Shamase Studios and its parking facilities is entirely at the client's own risk. Shamase Studios accepts no responsibility for any injury, accident, theft, loss or damage to persons, equipment or personal belongings.

Clients are responsible for any damage caused to the studio, furniture, equipment or facilities during their booking and may be charged for repairs or replacement where necessary. Crews are advised to carry their own insurance.

Please Respect the Studio

Please leave the studio in the same condition in which you found it: dispose of all rubbish, wash any dishes or cups used (dishwashing liquid is provided), and return furniture and movable items to their original positions. Help us keep the studio looking its best for every client.

Don't forget your playlist. A large Stanmore Marshall speaker and complimentary uncapped Wi-Fi are available for your use during your booking.
